Finally. I’ve reached the age. Of taking better care of
myself. Because I want to last. As long as I can. In good physical, mental and
emotional health. Which means. Listening to my doctors. And educating myself.
On the rudiments of survival. Into old
age. Staying less than old. For the rest of my life. If that’s possible. It’s
worth a try. I got a physical tune-up this week. And I’m scheduled for cataract surgery. On
both eyes. And I’m making sure that I get at least 8 hours of sustained sleep.
Every night. Taking care of little things. That I’ve ignored. One of my
favorite axioms. Will be. To not burn both ends of the candle at the same time.
And my favorite song. Will be. Bobby McFerrin’s ‘Don’t Worry. Be happy.’ Just being. Who and
what I am. A romantic idealist. A
spiritual free thinker. A political liberal. A lover. A dreamer. A writer.
