Beethoven's Ode to Thunder.

Thunder like I never heard before. Loud and continuous. Comes on suddenly. Without any warning. And then it turns silent. As if wrapped in a package. And released all at once. That’s the thunder in Sardinia. Came this morning. Comes frequently enough. Now and then. Back home in Minnesota, there’s no such thunder. It’s more sporadic. And more sharp. A distinct cracking. Flashes of light. But here it’s a loud rumble. No flashing. More like the roll of a thousand drums. I’m awed. There must be a thunder god up there. With a flair for the unusual. The dramatic. Maybe it’s a new form of music. Perhaps Beethoven. With an Ode to Thunder. –Jim Broede
