a mere mortal...playing god.

I sort of played god recently. When I was walking, I saw a turtle crossing the road. The turtle was only a quarter of the way across. I walked past it. But suddenly I was compelled to turn around. And I went back. And gently lifted the turtle and brought it across the road, to safety. Maybe that turtle was never airborne before. And I wondered how that felt to the turtle. Maybe a little like god had intervened, in the turtle's behalf. And performed a miracle. If that turtle could think, maybe it would start to believe in divine intervention. In miracles. In god. When really it was an act of a mere mortal…playing god. --Jim Broede
