I know how to find love...
I suppose as we get older, it's nice just to reflect on having the opportunity to reach old age. We'd all like to stay young, so to speak, forever. I think it's the saddest when one dies very young. Like some of these soldiers. In war. Some are still teen-agers. So many of them in their 20s. And their lives have been snuffed out by senseless war. Often, they are young men from underprivileged families. They didn't get education. And there seemed no other alternative than to enlist in the military. And to become killing machines. And they've been told that's the patriotic thing to do. To die for their country. They've been sold a bill of goods. They've been swayed by the sound bites. They've been turned into robots. By manipulating politicians. Masquerading as patriots. The politicians are mostly men in love with power. With the ability to control other people's destinies. They are the ones that play god. And they have no shame. That's the pity of it. Well, I'm on my soapbox today, aren't I? And I'm sounding cynical. But then I remind myself that I am in love. And that makes my life all right. And I stop fretting. At least for the moment. Because I know how to find love amidst all the chaos, all the madness. --Jim Broede
