The big, bad capitalist swine.

My friend Maebee is sounding a bit paranoid. She thinks of government, and especially government regulators, as the enemy. I think of government as a potential friend. My protector against the big, bad capitalist swine. And that includes bankers. Which, oddly enough, Maebee depicts as the good guys. --Jim Broede

You never fail, to change the entire meaning of what I have written. I am far from paranoid, but try to keep myself well informed. WE are the government, (well, at least I am, since you never vote)but it seems as though Washington has stopped listening to US. It seems all "they" are accomplishing is throwing more money into the fire. That is not going to put it out, simply fuel it.

I am not depicting bankers as good or bad. What I abhor, is having regulations and guidelines put into place, then ignored. What I DO object to, is the government taking over the banks. Washington has not done a very good job managing up to now. Consider this email I received..says it pretty well:

"The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.
AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM?? "

'NUFF SAID.

You are paranoid and don't know it. You also are full of old wives tales. And you are funny, too. Especially when you try to be serious. That, dear Maebee, may be your saving grace. Being funny. --Jim

P.S. You are ill-informed. Not well-informed.

Social security and medicare and medicaid and so many, many other government programs have done much good. Sure, no program is perfect. Every program needs up-dating and fine-tuning. But nobody in their right mind wants to get rid of these programs. They are among the best and most popular programs we have. Of course, negative thinkers (or should I say stinkers?) like you, Maebee, have a different point of view. A different opinion. Because you are ill-informed. Ignorant. Stupid. Call it what you will. I'll apply whichever term is least offensive for you. Because I'm a nice guy. I don't want to ruffle your feathers too much. Meanwhile, you continue to be one of the funniest women I've ever known. That makes the acquaintanceship a divine pleasure. --Jim

No, Maebee, you aren't part of the government. That's another one of your old wives tales. You think you become a part of the government merely because you vote and proclaim it. That's utter nonsense. Anyway, if you were genuinely a part of the government, I'd panic. You are better off staying home. Take care of your household. That's more than enough for you. Try not to cause any harm. --Jim

By the way, Maebee, I think the post office is doing quite well. Postal workers have come a long way since the Pony Express. And I like some of the new 44-cent stamps. I bought some featuring modern art. Very creative stuff. --Jim

I have submitted your writings to a psychiatrist, Maebee, and he says you sound awfully paranoid. --Jim

"The USPS is already in a death spiral due to changes in technology, high labor costs, and costly congressional mandates that have left it facing a projected $238 billion in losses over the next ten years. " .

The intentions of Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and so many programs that are NOW available to the needy, have been corrupted. This new "system" would not even be needed, if they could fix the holes in the current programs. Why would we even need Medicare/Medicaid under this new program??

I don't know where you got your schooling-maybe there weren't any schools available to you-but, we are still a Government of the people, for the people, by the people.
Did you read that that was an email I received? Call me what you will, go ahead, let your juvenile out. Just gives me a good chuckle.

I am so very grateful to you, Maebee. For providing me with so much comic relief. Indeed, you are a natural born comic. Allow me to become your manager. I'll get you booked at comedy clubs across the country. And I think i can get you on Letterman. Are you game? I get 20 percent. Just in case your math isn't good, that leaves you with 80percent. I'm trying to be fair to you. I'm not a greedy capitalist. --Jim

I got my schooling from the School of Hardknocks. I graduated summa cum laude. Yes, No. 1 in my class. I was the valedictorian. --Jim

You wouldn't know a good government program if it hit you over the head, dear Maebee. You have virtually no grasp of the common good. You want only your own selfish good. You have been brainwashed by your capitalist teachers. Some day, you must develop your own mind. --Jim

Are you telling me, Maebee, that you run your life quite efficiently? My guess is that you are running it shoddily. Makes me think you don't know the difference between good government and bad government. --Jim

Let me put it in a way you may understand...if my refrigerator is acting up, I check to see if I can fix it myself(which I recently did), before spending money on a new one. Is that simple enough??

I truly hope you are around to see what a huge mistake this reform is going to be. I know, I know, you diehard socialists won't believe it until you see it. Mark my words...you'll see.

By the way, your responses here are exactly why people who would like to say something..don't, and why people who DO write something...don't use their names.

Broede's Broodings said...

People who use their real names deserve respect. And they get it. Those who don't have the courage to use their real names -- well, they are cowards, of sorts. And I'm more inclined to treat them like cowards. I even poke fun at 'em. --Jim

It could be that Washington and all kinds of people are listening to you, Maebee. But maybe they aren't accepting what you have to say. You do spread lots of old wives tales. Yes, tales that may be popular with your empty-headed Republican friends. But maybe not with the more knowledgeable Obama and the Democrats. I, for one, am amused by your old wives tales. They are entertaining. But nevertheless, they are tales. And should be treated as such. --Jim

Broede's Broodings said...

We have something in common, Maebee. We both think we are right. Only thing is that you are wrong. And I am right. And you have difficulty accepting that. --Jim

But I have to give you credit for persistence, Maebee. You keep coming back for more. Others would have given up long ago. You have a never-say-die attitude. You may go away for a while. But you always come back. Maybe you think you can change me. So that I start thinking like you. But Maebee, it ain't gonna happen. Take my word for it. --Jim

Maybe it isn't persistence, Maebee. Maybe it's obsession. --Jim
