Getting one's act together.
It'd be nice if everybody became his/her own psychotherapist. Yes, if everyone looked inward. And did some keen self-analysis. Objectively. Honestly. But it won't happen. Because too many people can't stand or face the truth. The truth scares 'em. So they lie. To themselves. And to others. I suspect that's one reason why depression is rampant. People feel sad. And they don't know why. But they probably would come up with answers if they became their own psychotherapists. Of course, people have an alternative. They can seek professional help. From a qualified psychotherapist. But it'd be a lot cheaper if people did their own psychotherapy. And the results might be more penetrating. Because you'd be reaching into your own psyche. You'd be getting inside yourself. You'd see the naked you. Granted. That might be an ugly picture. But it also may be an opportunity for getting one's act together. --Jim Broede
