I can hardly wait for supper.
We ventured into the Sardinian coastal countryside on Sunday. To explore beaches. And we became hungry. In the afternoon. Knowing that restaurants and other businesses usually close for a couple hours. At about this time. So we kept our fingers crossed. Hoping to find something open. Sure enough. In Sant' Antioco. Don't know if the restorante had a name. Other than Restorante. But in we went. Only two empty tables left. And it was a pleasurable experience. Had a pasta dish called Mallorreddus alla compidanese. Delicious. Superb. It's a Sardinian pasta. Tiny pieces with sausage in a flavorful tomato sauce. I savored it all. Tiny forkful by tiny forkful. Making it last. With a glass of Ichnusa, a Sardinian beer. My true love had spaghetti and mussels. And for dessert. I don't know what it was. Other than sinful. But I ate it. Without a pang of conscience. Meanwhile, my true love has promised to make me supper tonight. Yes, Mallorreddus alla compidanese. I can hardly wait. --Jim Broede
