It's a curious situation.

I can't figure it out. In Carbonia, where I am spending the winter, I have found a thoroughly blocked section of sidewalk. In front of a residence. A wall has been built where the walk borders the street. And a gate built at each end. So that pedestrians have to walk in the street. Seems to me it's downright dangerous. Why has this homeowner been allowed to do this? Or is he doing it on his own? And if so, why hasn't the city done anything about it? If I were more than a visitor here, I'd check it out. And maybe I will anyway. Just out of curiosity. Or maybe I will encourage my Italian true love to pursue the matter. After all, it's her city. --Jim Broede
