I'm a disappointed American.

I'm baffled. By the fact that in America we allow a candidate for president to conduct a campaign built on lies. And that despite the lies, he'll either win or come close to winning. It's scary. And a sign that many, many Americans are willing to accept liars. Because lying seems to have become common place. As if we expect it. And accept it as a standard part of the American way of life.  Maybe it's always been that way. After all, America was founded on the preamble that all men are created equal. The founders never believed it. Black men certainly weren't equal to white men. And the rich were more equal than the poor. And women had to play second fiddle to men. Makes me think that America ain't all it's cracked up to be. Little wonder. I'm a disappointed American. --Jim Broede
