Time to face the facts/truth.

When Barack Obama cited cost as a reason to bring troops home from Afghanistan he referred to a $1 trillion price tag for America's wars. Staggering as it is, that figure grossly underestimates the total cost of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan to the U.S. Treasury and ignores more imposing costs yet to come, according to a study released on Wednesday. The final bill will run at least $3.7 trillion and could reach as high as $4.4 trillion, according to the research project "Costs of War" by Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies. Yes,  folks, I just picked up this report from the news agency Reuters. I have no reason to disbelieve it. Instead, I'm more likely to disbelieve American politicians (mostly Republicans) that got us into these wars in the first place. With lie upon lie. But hey, it's easy to dupe Americans. Evidenced by one of the biggest liars of 'em all, Mitt Romney.  He stands a chance of becoming our next president.  Based on a pack of lies. What does that say for America? And for those of us that would let it happen? As a country, we have spent $4.4 trillion on one obscenity after another. Makes me wonder if America is the most obscene war-mongering nation on Mother Earth. Certainly, we could find better ways to spend $4.4 trillion. But first, we have to learn to face the facts/truth. --Jim Broede
