Makes my day.

Made my day. Two cats. And a dog. In my favorite park.  Just off Piazza Roma. In the city of Carbonia. In Sardinia. I go there almost every day. To take a break from my miles and miles of walking.   I sit on a bench. And observe life. Three days ago, two cats wandered by.  But they weren’t so wild. Like so many others. They were docile. But playful. With each other. A red female. A gray male. They romped. Chased each other. I wondered if I could approach. Yes, I could. Red cat came to me. Allowed me to stroke her fine, smooth fur. We talked to each other.  Oh, I would have liked to take the cats home with me. But couldn’t be sure if they belonged to someone. My Italian true love likes cats. But she travels a lot. Comes to stay with me in the summer.  Tending to cats would be a problem. I have two cats at home in Minnesota. But I also have a house sitter when I’m gone.  Anyway, I leaned back on my park bench. Closed my eyes. And started to dream. When I was awakened. By a dog. A nice fella. He brushed up against my pants leg. He asked for attention. He got it. That’s my way.  Makes my day. –Jim Broede
