Italians don’t like to talk about the Mafia. Some of ‘em would like to pretend that it doesn’t exist. Because it’s a national disgrace. So why don’t the Italians get rid of the Mafia? Well, they tell me it’s impossible. That the Mafia is entrenched. That it’s all-powerful. With strong links everywhere. In high office. In business. In banks. In the entire social, economic and political structures. Throughout the world. Not only in Italy. Toy with the Mafia, and your life is at risk. The tentacles reach everywhere. But still, some Italians have had the courage to take on the Mafia. Many of ‘em are dead. Others have heavy security protection.
