A disorganized organization.
Consider Catholicism a disorganized 'organized' religion. Don’t know if that makes it better or worse. No doubt about it, I avoid organized religions. Because of their self-serving edicts and cultures and traditions. I’d rather go my own self-serving ways. Deciding stuff for myself. Rather than leaving it to others. Anyway, many of the Catholics I know, don’t practice Catholicism. They’re really, in many cases, quite independent. Even poke malicious fun at the pope. Yet, they still consider themselves Catholic. Because the church is so damn disorganized. The hierarchy doesn’t know if it’s coming or going. Suppose that’s the case with Pope Benedict. In deciding to resign. Didn’t know what to do next. May have something to do with old age. Physical frailty. Maybe dementia. It all catches up with us. If we live long enough. Better to recognize it. Sooner rather than later. Thing with the Catholic church, recognition has always been a problem. Right from the start. Little wonder. It’s become a disorganized organization. –Jim Broede
