A convivial god.

I keep reminding myself. That lots of things happen. Over which I have absolutely no control. These reminders are essential. For my peace of mind. Of course, I’d like to have control. Over everything. That would be playing god. Perceived by some as sacrilegious. But nothing wrong with pretending. Just for the heck of it. Anyway, my guess is that god doesn’t control world events. He merely lets stuff happen. Randomly. That way, he doesn’t have to take the blame. For anything. He just lets the world be. And maybe wakes up surprised. By what happened when he was taking a cat nap. I can understand why god wouldn’t want to micromanage everything. The guy deserves time off. Even an annual vacation.  So that he comes back rested and rejuvenated. And in good spirits. Think about it. That would be beneficial for all of us. To have a convivial god. --Jim Broede
