A nice time. To be alive.

Good things happened. Yesterday. In my cloistered world. A day after a snowstorm. That brought us an 8-inch coating. A scene. Reminiscent. Of the one in the film ‘Dr. Zhivago.’ Sun sparkling off snow-covered fir trees. Not a single cloud in the sky.  No wind. Sure, a little brisk. But refreshing 26 degrees. Time for a break. From shoveling the driveway. When I return. Good neighbors Rick and Julie. Had finished the job. A sense of camaraderie. Prevails. For the entire day. Yes. Yes. Good things happening. All around me. One. Two. Three. They keep adding up. I haven’t yet. Opened my New York Times. In search of other goodness. Occurring in the outside world.  But I’m certain. I’ll find stuff. That makes for a brilliant day. A nice time. To be alive. --Jim Broede
