Yes. Yes. Occasionally we clash. With each other. On the
Alzheimer’s message boards. That’s to be expected. Because we have different perspectives.
For dealing with life. And our circumstances. I’m 10 years separated from my
care-giving role. With dear Jeanne. I’ve had time to reflect. To adjust. To benefit
from the passage of time. Since the actual experience. I can speak optimistically.
About the future of most care-givers. You’ll get better. Most of you will
survive. And probably milk a few more years of decent and happy living. The long-term
future isn’t as bright. For those of you with dementia. Unless we find a cure.
That’s the only hope. But hey. I’m
convinced. Beyond a doubt. That I learned to make life better. For Jeanne. In her
declining years. I became a better care-giver.
Learned the benefits of good vibes therapy. Learned to give Jeanne the
kind of love. That she so vitally needed. Yes, folks. That’s the bottom line. That’s my perspective. Take it or leave it.
