If I were god.

As a writer, I’m allowed to play god. By making up tales. Yes, fiction.  That portrays life. The way I want it to be. I become the creator. With leeway and latitude. To bless my friends. By giving them a new reality. In imaginative story form. For instance, I have a friend. Who’s in a troubled marriage.  And she has health problems, too. So, to make everything well. I’m concocting a short story.  In which her life is turned around. And all ends happily ever after. I told her about it the other day. Of course, there’s no assurance that the story will become true and real. But she’s on notice. That this is what I wish for her. This is what I would make happen. If I were god. --Jim Broede
