My true love is very funny.
I cleaned the refrigerator the other day. And threw out two shriveled chunks of lemon. That was a mistake. My Italian true love was looking for lemon today. For a concoction she’s cooking. She asked, what did I do with the lemon? Threw them away, I confessed. I got reprimanded. I’m supposed to know better. Now I know. Because my true love made the forceful point. I was a bad boy. Took more than a minute to make the point. To make sure I don’t forget. Believe me, I won’t forget. But I offered, like a true Italian gentleman, to go to the grocery store. Immediately. To buy lemons. Fortunately, she found a fresh lemon. Turns out, we have an abundance of lemons. So really, no reason to fuss. No big deal. Meanwhile, I’m laughing. Because my true love is very funny. –Jim Broede
