Can you imagine Americans voting for John McCain to strike a blow against the wine-drinking, brie-eating coastal elites and denying themselves a decent health care system, a better economy and competent leadership? Believe it. It could happen."

Surveys are showing that the communities and states with increasing numbers of highly-educated people are shifting their allegiance more and more to Democrats, while the relatively uneducated working class tends to favor the Republicans. That sure makes me an advocate for a good education. I'd like to see that everybody that wants a college education gets it. Even at public expense. I want the American society to be the best-educated society in the world. Let's smarten up society rather than dumb it down. --Jim
Yes, some working class Americans bog themselves down in their right to own guns. It's the macho thing. To be able to tote an AK-47 when they go out to hunt deer or bear. Or even blast away raccoons and squirrels. So they side with Republicans and the National Rifle Association. Because owning a gun is more important than universal health care. --Jim
