Learning to laugh a little bit.
I have a friend. Maebee. Her real name is Nina. But she goes by Maebee on the Internet. Because she thinks it's dangerous to use one's real name. Now I'm not sure that Maebee considers me a friend. I suspect she doesn't trust me. She has some absurd ideas about me. And I about her. We really don't know each other. We've never met. But we've exchanged pleasantries. A few unpleasantries, too. I joke around with Maebee a whole lot. Only thing is, she doesn't share my sense of humor. At times, I doubt that she has any sense. That could be taken in a variety of ways. But I mainly mean humor. And she thinks some of my humor is insulting. A little bit like the comedian Don Rickles. I try to lighten things up with Maebee. But it's quite a challenge. Because Maebee often wants to be serious when I want to be funny. I usually win. By just laughing it up. That annoys Maebee to some degree. Albeit, I have to admit she's relatively tolerant of my ways. Yes, she's learning. To laugh a little bit. --Jim Broede

One thing about Maebee. She's very opinionated. So am I. So we have our share of clashes of opinions. --Jim
Another thing. Maebee doesn't like my close friends. Rosie and Cherie. But she hardly knows 'em. If she did, they'd be friends. But Maebee has prejudged 'em. And still, she says she never prejudges. That's totally untrue. --Jim
I have a sense that Maebee wants to remake me into her own image. That's pretty scary. --Jim
Maebee lacks a sense of humor. But still, she's funny. Especially when she tries to be serious. --Jim
I think Maebee has posted comments here 12 times in the past 24 hours. That sets the record for guest commentators. --Jim
I like the Maebee-effect on this blog. Brings us a bit of balance. And helps us fill up the comments section. --Jim
I'd like to take a poll. Do the rest of you like the Maebee-effect? --Jim
Jim, Jim, Jim,
It is clear that you are trying to get me to "go away". This happens, when I post facts that do not support your opinions. So be it. I come and go, as I please, same as everyone. However this has become quite tiresome, as you refuse to stay on track, and instead wander into this bizzare insult world. That's OK. I understand.
As for your friends....I have not prejudged them. They have been outright cruel to me, quite openly. No, I do not like them. I have seen their dark side. I have seen the false and ficticious sides. I am true and constant.
Seems you are doing a pretty god job youself, filling up the comment section-I should let you continue.
It is true, I may not have a sense of humor, by your interpretation, but I am ever thankful for that!
Have a great day, Jim.
Yawn...
Always feel welcome here, Maebee. Because you add entertainment value to this blog. Your grasp of the 'facts' isn't always accurate. But you do have a funny serious side. I suppose it's a special kind of humor. You do make me laugh. I know that's often unintended. But accept it. And accept this as a compliment. We need new kinds of comedians in this world. And you have the potential to be a great one. A comedian who acts as if she's very serious and doesn't intend to be funny. That schtick could take you a long way. To stardom. Stick around. Some day, you'll be able to say you had your start in Broede's Broodings Comedy Club. Polish up the act. Get some coaching, some mentoring. I'm one of your boosters. I'm forming a Maebee fan club. I'll be able to say I knew Maebee when... Yes, I recognize genuine talent, genuine genius when I see it. --Jim
By the way, Maebee, you haven't even met Rosie and Cherie. So if you have harsh opinions of 'em, I'd call that pre-judging. Wait til you meet 'em. You could become best friends with 'em. They are among the nicest people I know. Dear friends. I know that in some ways they really like you. They'd give you a fairshake. Maybe we all should meet up some day. And have a good time together. And correct misunderstandings. It would be a wonderful 'good feel' story. Come. Let's cultivate camaraderie. We could become known as the four musketeers. --Jim
One for all, all for one. --Jim
Imagine having Rosie, Cherie and Jim as your allies. Wouldn't that make you feel good? It could happen if you loosen up, Maebee. Let's meet half-way. --Jim
You know, the lunatic fringe of the Republican Party thinks it has a grasp of the 'facts,' too. --Jim
So did Wrong Way Corrigan. --Jim
"Your grasp of the 'facts' isn't always accurate. "
My facts have not been disputed, and I generally back them up with reference.
As for your friends, I have enough information to make an intelligent, informed opinion. I do not foster friendships with people who intentionally belittle and insult me. Aparently you have a selective memory, or you agree.
Of course they are nice to you! You are three pees in a pod. One could even believe "they" are multiple personalities of a single person.
You have a suspicious mind, Maebee. One might call it paranoia. You allow your imagination to run away with you in negative ways. You must learn to trust people. Enjoy life. We're all really good people. Capable of being friends. If only you'd loosen up. --Jim
For starters, try to consider me your friend, Maebee. Rosie and Cherie can come later. Tackle us one at a time. --Jim
It could be, Maebee, that you hang around with the wrong crowd. And they influence you negatively. Assert yourself. Try to be an independent woman. Use your mind to the fullest. And tell them that I'm your friend. Truly a friend. They'll tell you not to trust me. But you really can trust me. And you know it. I am very trustworthy. --Jim
Dream on, sweetie.
Let's see, outright insults, in print, in the very forum that they spew "support" and "compassion"? They are either stupid, or mean-hearted. Take your pick. Not suspicions or imagination. In print.
Dream on. I am more selective in my Friends.
Check your forehead, Judy.
Your paranoia is showing, Maebee. You can overcome it. Primarily with laughter. See the humor in life. Don't be scared by life. Learn to live it. Embrace it. Joyfully. Happily. --Jim
You may be headed for a breakdown, Maebee. You are calling me Jim, Jim, Jim (repeatedly) and sweetie and Judy. Please, get control. Relax. Get a good night's sleep. Anyway, I am a sweetie. But not a Judy. --Jim
Anyway, let's be friends, Maebee. The two of us. Heck with Rosie and Cherie. --Jim
I hope you've had a good night's sleep, Maebee. And that you've recuperated. Amazing what a little rest will do. Taking time out. To de-clutter one's mind. Putting a little distance between your ire. You really should try to make peace. Even with people you dislike. With Rosie, for instance. She's really nice. Just like you. Both of you are nice in many, many ways. Far more nice than not so nice. So focus on the niceness. That's how people become friends. --Jim
I hope you have a nice Halloween, Maebee. Do you ever dress in your clown costume on Halloween night? Imagine the youngsters coming to your door to be greeted by a clown. That would be a treat. Sort of a trick, too. A nice trick. Think of the expressions you'd capture on the cherubic faces of those delightful kids. It'd make you feel good. --Jim
I'm really impressed by you, Maebee. Because you do make an effort to connect. And you and I have connected. In meaningful ways. I know you get a little frustrated with me. But hey, stick with it. You are making strides. --Jim
It really is very nice that you called me sweetie. When really you could have called me some unprintable names. Thank you for the nice gesture. And for the restraint. --Jim
I know that some of your advisors will say, "Don't even bother trying to talk to Broede. It won't do any good." But hey, you still talk and write. An indication that you are an independent woman. And maybe more tolerant and open-minded than some of your friends. --Jim
You are daring to talk to me, too. That would frighten some of your friends. --Jim
You know, I think you should use your real name, Nina. It has a nice ring to it. Maebee sounds like an old frumpy woman. Nina has class. An air of sophistication. Freshness. It'd be safe, too. Nobody would know your surname. Do you like my name? Jim. My middle name is Bruce. I could go by J. Bruce Broede. It does flow nicely, doesn't it? Isn't Bruce a Scottish name? I like Scotland. I was there last spring. --Jim
Some other first names I'd consider for myself include Bruno, Brian, Bryce, Brat, Bria, Brilliant, Bradley, Brutus. If I were a woman, I'd choose Bratilda Broede. --Jim
This is why people post anonymously.
You are unstable
Come now. I'm just as stable as the next guy and gal. If you wanna see unstable, look at the lunatic fringe of the Republican Party. What about Dick Cheney? And Sarah Palin. And Rush Limbaugh. And Glen Beck. Are you telling me that they are stable? --Jim
Anyway, I like venturing out in this crazy world. Even on Halloween night. I've dealt with lunatic Republicans. So I think I can handle just about any kind of spook. --Jim
I like to post comments in the comments section of this blog. Because this section needs lightening up. Maebee, for instance, takes life too seriously. --Jim
