Tell me you ain't a racist.

Here's a political writer that thinks the Tea Party is all about race. And I couldn't agree more. Racism is still rampant in America. Click below. Read Bob Cesca. Tell me what you think. And if you are a Tea Party member, tell me you ain't a racist. With a straight-face. --Jim Broede

Maybe I've seen a few sun-tanned white folks at Tea Party rallies. When I watched on TV or looked at news photographs. But I've yet to see any blacks. And if they were there, it was probably in an auxiliary role. Serving food to white folks. Or maybe a black reporter covering the event for his newspaper. --Jim

I like this response:
"Interesting analysis, but somewhat flawed. For example, if you had conducted a tea party opinion poll in other parts of the country, you might have drawn vastly different conclusions. Sandpoint, Idaho is not the optimum place to ask these questions due to its known proximity to hate groups. Read the recent NEW YORKER magazine article on this same subject, and the range of opinion goes well beyond wing nuts. That said, there may be an undercurrent of racisim that uses the tea party movement to disguise its racial hatred of the President."

See, the Tea Party movement, in itself, is not racist, but certainly some racists are using it to further their cause, simply because it is a movement that disagrees with a President, who happens to be black. They should be singled out, and prosecuted.

Here is the most intelligent response I have read, offered by an Atheist-sponsored website. Pay close attention to the statement:

"It's not as easy as Keith(Olbermann) imagines to get a diverse group to support an activist cause, and it's a terrible fallacy to conclude that the movement is racist because it doesn't attract more black people."

AND:

"...Yearly Kos, the convention for liberal activists sponsored by the liberal blog Daily Kos, has received similar pointless criticism that they are "diversity challenged." That because they can't attract more black members, there is some unspoken whites-only principle in the ideology of the group."

What I don't get is, you seem fairly intelligent, yet you persist in letting these people who spout controversial views for a living(i.e. for $$$), form your views, simply because of the name of the group!

The worst kind of racism is the more subtle kind. At least the racists in Idaho are more open about it. --Jim

In many instances, I share the views of other liberals. But I don't let them form my views. Most liberals are not liberal enough for me. I think Obama does too much pussyfooting. I'm to the left of Obama. But hey, he's a delight. Much better than anything we've had in the White House in my time. --Jim
