Oh, what a lovely scene.

I gotta give Barack Obama and the Democrat leadership credit. They outfoxed the ruthless and diabolical Republicans. The GOP was dreaming of making health care insurance reform Obama's Waterloo. Oh, they desperately wanted him to fail. But lo and behold, after 13 excruciating months, we've got reform. And we've got Obama riding high. For a while, I was losing my faith. Because I knew the Republicans were trying to pull out all stops. With their typical lying and deceiving tactics. Opposing everything. Even stuff they supported in the past. But they desperately want to bring down the Obama presidency. At virtually any cost. Just imagine. Not a single Republican voted for reform. Years from now we'll remember Republicans for their spiteful ways. Obama tried to be a non-partisan gentleman. Tried to accommodate Republicans. He was as nice as nice can be. But time and time again, he was rebuffed by the party of absolute "no." Yes, that's about all the Republicans know how to do. Say "no" to everything. But Obama was persistent. And patient. He rallied the divergent sides in the Democratic Party, and got the reform passed. Albeit by a narrow margin, 219-212. But victory is victory. America has reason to celebrate. Finally, we have much-needed reform. With more likely to come. We are joining the other civilized industrial nations of the world. We're heading in the right direction. To universal health care. And we're sending the Republicans home with tails between their legs. Oh, what a lovely scene. --Jim Broede

It's sick when you intentionally want someone to fail, isn't it? Even if it's bad for the country. --Jim

Hey, you wanted the MAJORITY of Americans to fail....that's sick. Since it is OK to spout about the "majority" of votes(albeit a "simple" one), what about the MAJORITY of Americans who did NOT want this particular bill to pass?

Let's see how many of those Congressmen and women who voted "yes" remain in their jobs. Sure it passed. That only proves that President Obama is a salesman, not a leader; that he will be responsible for bankrupting my children and grandchildren. This would have never gotten through, if put to the vote of the citizens.

Through "infighting, the sweetheart deals, the strong-arming, the vote-buying, the corruption and the opacity", it got forced through. Interesting to note...there were no minority votes FOR the bill.

"$100 million at Tennessee, $300 million at Louisiana, $100 million at Connecticut and $1 billion at the drug companies in explicit exchange for "yes" votes that you couldn't otherwise get, it's selling, not leading.

When you have to wine and dine hopelessly spineless legislators like Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) with shrimp cocktail and Dom Perignon aboard Air Force One and cheap campaign shoutouts, it's selling, not leading."

NOT a moment for America to be proud of. You wouldn't know the facts, if they came up and bit you in the ass. You have admitted you know nothing about the actual bill.

" ..the profanity of the process will vastly overshadow the product."

Hey, anonymous numbskull, Dennis Kucinich is your superior. He's got a brain. --Jim

And furthermore, if this nation becomes bankrupt, it'll be the fault of Georgie Boy Bush and the Republicans. They're the ones that have driven us over the cliff. They came to power with a budget surplus and left us with the biggest deficit in history. --Jim
