Can god be surprised?

Now and then, someone enters my life. In a nice way. Maybe for no particular reason. But we connect. Hit it off. The vibes are good. Maybe in the last five years it has happened five or six times. New people in my life. We become friends. Maybe it's all coincidence. Or maybe it's meant to be. For a reason. To serve a purpose. I like to look at life in such terms. That certain events are fated. And that one has a destiny. Pre-determined. Or guided by a mystical force that some people call god. If god is all-knowing, god knows our fate. Doesn't he? Or is it possible god doesn't know what will happen next? Maybe god leaves things to random chance. I wonder how often god is totally surprised. --Jim Broede
