Maybe other GOPers can, too.
I know a district court judge. From my days as a writer for newspapers. He was a politician, too. Served in the Minnesota Legislature. A Republican. But this guy was a moderate. Almost seemed like a liberal. I'm sure he doesn't like the way his party has gone. Maybe he's no longer a Republican. Anyway, the guy called me the other day. We haven't seen each other in a long, long time. Maybe 10 years or more. And he suggested that we rekindle our relationship. He's gonna take me to lunch. I'm sure we'll talk politics. And the old days. Anyway, he's a rare bird. If he's still a Republican, I expect he's the exception to the rule. He's gracious and kind and understanding. Maybe that's because he was a judge. He had to try to retain some degree of neutrality. And to cultivate an open mind. To be fair. If he can do it, maybe other Republicans can, too. --Jim Broede
