We don't deserve very much.

I think government is necessary. But I'm not sold on any particular form of government. And certainly, my disdain applies to democracy. It's not as good as some Americans would have us believe. It's rather inefficient. Because democracies rely on elections. Giving the people the say. In theory. The problem with that is that people tend to be ignorant. Downright stupid. Ill-informed. Under a democracy, people can be too easily manipulated. And in the case of the American democracy, the powerbrokers are the people with lots of money. Primarily the big corporations. They buy favors from our congress. The thing is that many people don't take an interest in their government. They don't participate. Or if they do, it's because they've been motivated and duped by the political manipulators. I'm convinced that the American electorate would qualify as among the dumbest in the world. In many cases, trained monkeys would have a higher IQ than many voters. And it doesn't help that some elected representatives are about as trustworthy as a Mafia hit man. I'm discouraged by it all. But hey, generally we probably get the government we deserve. And we don't deserve very much. --Jim Broede

You are some what right, the Unions do tell a lot of dummies how to vote.
You know they have to be dummies, when they let their leads spend 55 million dollars of their union dues, on midterm elections, while their union pensions are going broke from mismanagement.
