If one just waits it out.
I’m sitting on a bluff at maybe the highest point in Carbonia, watching the gathering of dark clouds. Probably rain on the way. And I don’t have an umbrella or raincoat with me. For which my true love may scold. But I don’t care if I get wet. I can dry off once I get home. I’d rather just look out over the horizon. And absorb the beauty of it all. The vast green hills The buildings with orange-tile roofs. Barking dogs in the distance. And I’m seated on a concrete bench. Writing. Looking north. Feeling smug and satisfied. With life. Such a precious day. Yes, I know that not every day is full of happiness. The world is full of misery, too. I can think of moments of unhappiness in my life. But I’ve always had faith that life would get better. Always does. If one just waits it out. –Jim Broede
