Keeps me wondering.
I know people that treat friends better than family. That may seem odd. But I had a mother, for instance, that was sometimes grumpy and out of sorts and depressed in my presence. That is, when I was alone with her. But the moment a mere acquaintance stepped into the scene, she lightened up. Put on a happy and charming face. But with me and other family members, she often allowed herself to turn on the dark side of her personality. I don't know whether that's good or bad. Maybe she felt with me she could exhibit the way she really felt. She didn't have to put on an act. And I should take that as a compliment. Keeps me wondering about the nature of people. --Jim Broede
