I'm happy being away.
I'm happy at the moment living in Sardinia. Rather than in the USA. Can't say that I miss the states. Because I don't particularly like the politicial, economic and social climate. That especially goes for the political climate. And the conservative rhetoric. Which I think breeds the kind of shooting we've just had in gawd-awful Arizona. Where a mentally-disturbed guy can obtain a Glock. An automatic-firing pistol. That can mow down people methodically, in very quick-like fashion. Firing up to 30 rounds without reloading. This ain't a weapon designed for a grandma to protect herself. It's meant to kill a whole bunch of people. All at once. Like in war. In America, we have a gun lobby that makes all this possible. And if you are a politician opposed to easy access to gun possession, you'll probably be defeated by the gun-toting members of the National Rifle Association. America is a violent country. Just as violent as almost any terrorist group. And a country full of hate. We have conservatives wanting to overthrow the government. If not by the election process, then by violence. By shooting liberals. Exterminating 'em. You won't find liberals advocating such action against their opponents. But we've got some wild-eyed conservatives, even in the national media, fueling the hatred. And making heroes of the killers, the exterminators. Yes, a sickness is sweeping the land. And little wonder that I'm happy to be where I am. In Sardinia, my little island Paradise in the Mediterranean Sea. With my true love. --Jim Broede
