A vintage year in Paradise.
It’s been a good year. No doubt about it. But as far as that goes, every year of my life has been a good year. Far more good than bad happens every year. Sure, there are bad days, bad moments. But if I’m objective, I have to admit that life is good. When I woke this morning, I was thinking that it was on New Year’s eve in 1957 that I was flying across the Atlantic Ocean for arrival in Frankfurt, Germany, on New Year’s Day in 1958. For what proved to be a wonderful assignment with the U.S. Army. I was 22 then. Amazing that I was once so young. I’m 75 now, and in Carbonia in Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea. With my true love. Ready to celebrate. Quietly. That’s what I like about life. The fact that I have lived in Paradise all my life. Never mattered whether I was in Germany or Chicago or Florida or Minnesota or Sardinia. I am in Paradise all the time. –Jim Broede
