I can imagine a female pope.

They teach religion in the public schools here in Sardinia and the rest of Italy. It's something kind of odd. We wouldn't get away with it in the USA. One isn't compelled to take religion in high school in Italy. But almost everyone does. And the instructors are paid for by the government. But the teachers are picked by the archbishops. So they're all Catholics. And true believers, I suppose. If I were a student, I'd take religion, too. If for no other reason than to serve as the devil's advocate. And I'd advocate that agnostics and atheists be allowed to teach religion, too. The Italians need a more varied approach to religion. The Broede approach. I'm a free-thinker. And I think that means one could be Catholic and a free-thinker, too. By opening one's mind. And taking issue with the Pope. I'd even suggest that the Pope ain't infallible. And that women should be allowed to become priests. And maybe even Pope some day. And that's what Catholics have gotta work for. More equality. More open-mindedness. --Jim Broede
