I prefer words over pictures.
When I travel, I usually have bad luck with my digital cameras. Yes, I mean that in the plural. Because I lose cameras. Or damage 'em beyond repair. For instance, I had the camera in my back pocket. And sat on it. And cracked the lens. Good thing I didn't cut my ass. Other times, I just plain lost the cameras. They dropped out of my pocket. Once into a canal in Venice. On my current trip in Sardinia, my camera battery charger went dead. And I'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement. I may have to buy another camera. Then I'll have a back up. I like to take pictures. Especially arty stuff. But I'm not a fanatic about it. Sometimes, I just like to observe and preserve the picture in my mind. No need for a camera. But then I'll have nothing to show people. Which is all right. Because I can always put the description into words. Might be better and more graphic than a picture. --Jim Broede
