Despite my white skin.

The white ruling elite. No telling what they will do next. Because they don't want to lose political power. But America's demographics show that white people are fast becoming the minority. I personally take that as good news. Despite being a white male. I feel more like a nonwhite. More like Blacks and Hispanics and Asians when it comes to political, economic and social issues. I became colorblind long ago.  But believe me,  the white ruling elite, tend to be racists. They won't surrender power without a fight. Without trickery. Without deceit. They abhor a black man being in the White House for another four years. They wish Barack Obama would go away. Because he ain't a white or a conservative. He's really a moderate. But to far right  conservatives, that's tantamount to being a wild-eyed liberal, a socialist, a communist. Obama's popularity scares Republicans. They call him a taker rather than a giver. Because Obama would support programs that serve the common good, rather than the rich ruling elite. Affordable universal health care for everyone, for instance. And Medicare. And Social Security. And safety nets for the poor and middle class. And higher taxes on millionaires and billionaires. A more equitable distribution of the nation's wealth. That's what I stand for, too. Little wonder that I align myself with the new non-white majority. Makes me proud to feel nonwhite. Despite my white skin. --Jim Broede
