All that matters. Togetherness.

My favorite room in my true love’s wonderful abode in Sardinia is the living room. Ironically, the place in which we spend the least amount of time. Mostly, we live in the tiny kitchen. That’s the Italian way.  Sitting at the kitchen table.  An inviting warm place. Especially in the wintertime.   But still, I yearn for more time in the living room. After all, it’s called living room for a reason. And by far our most spacious room.  A nice balcony, too.  Looking west. At gorgeous sunsets. And ornate old-style Italian  furniture. Heirlooms. Also, a mix of modern. Matching tan leather sofa and love seat. Forming  an ‘L.’  And  cabinets with glass doors.  A crystal  chandelier.   I go in  alone sometimes. For solitude. To read a book. To reflect on the wonderful nature of life. No doubt about it. I'm in love. With the living room. Meanwhile, my Italian true love is in love with my home. In Minnesota. On a lake. One looks west out the living room windows. And west from the decks in the summertime. Picnicing. Watching  sunsets. But the nicest part of all.  Whether it be in a kitchen, a living room, the great outdoors, or any place in the world. It's lovers being together.  –Jim Broede
