I'd pay 20 euros for a good story.

Got mistaken the other day for an Italian. He  approached me on a street in Sardinia. And spoke to me in Italian. I didn’t understand. So told him in Italian that I didn’t speak Italian. Then he spoke to me in sign language. That he was hungry. So I reached into my pocket and gave him a few coins. Then he thanked me. In perfect  English.  I asked, where was he from? Nigeria. Off he went. To get something to eat, I presume. But I was thinking that if he had engaged me a little more in conversation, I would have been a soft touch. Could have gotten more from me. Just by telling his story.  How and why he came to Italy. And a little bit about his life experiences.   That would have been worth 20 euros. –Jim Broede
