A sense of adventure.

I have an acquaintance. She’s chronically in the doldrums. Over long-standing marital problems. Some of which seem unsolvable. But suddenly, things have taken a turn for the better. Maybe everything will be all right. That’s happened before. Then the bottom drops out again.  But maybe this time, everything will work out. And be hunky dory. Forever and ever. Who’s to say? If the marriage lasts and succeeds, it’ll go down as a remarkable story. Of resiliency and faith and love. But if the marriage ultimately crumbles, it’ll be viewed as two people constantly abusing  each other and themselves. That they should have known better. That they should have recognized their irreconcilable differences right from the start. That they set themselves up for failure. Thing is, failure is a part of life. Ultimately, it can be chalked up as a learning experience. Maybe it’s worth taking risks. Failure adds a  sense of adventure to life. –Jim Broede
