For the right way, turn left.
Takes a long time for society to recognize right from wrong. Think about it. How long it took to end slavery, to end monarchy, to end subjugation of women. Yet, equal rights still haven’t come. We’re still embracing the inequities of capitalism. We tolerate an ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor. Though strong arguments can be made that it’s morally wrong. But gross injustices and wrongs linger on and on. Before real change occurs. Before the revolution. And I sometimes wonder, why so slowly? The most apparent reason, I suppose, is that those in power, don’t want change. They want to keep themselves in the driver’s seat. Reaping the benefits of the current shameful system. Even if it’s blatantly immoral. Of course, that annoys me. As it should annoy most everyone who wants fairness. But I recognize that the system is rigged. To prevent change. Or if it does come, to slow the pace. To a crawl. I want greedy capitalism to go the way of dinosaurs. To never be seen again. But the system is entrenched. It won’t be uprooted overnight. Or maybe not even over a millennium. So I watch. Observe. And rejoice every time there’s a little change. A move in the right direction. In which case I mean to the left. Economically. Politically. Socially. –Jim Broede
