My moment of weakness.
Croissant. Croissant. Croissant. Yes, that’s right. Three of ‘em. I had three croissants for breakfast the other day. At Hotel Sassi, a bed and breakfast place in the Italian city of Matera. The most delicious croissants I ever tasted. Filled with custard and prune jam. I could have eaten four. Maybe five. I was tempted. But didn’t want to risk looking like a pig. I had my Italian true love fetch the third croissant. So that maybe the help would think she was gonna eat it. But I snatched it up when people weren’t looking. And wiped the drool from my chin. I also had two cappuccinos, red orange juice, yogurt with chunks of apricot. And I can’t remember what else. Shameful, maybe. But I couldn’t resist my moment of weakness. –Jim Broede
