Some 'losers' are still winners.
I know people who shouldn’t set their expectation levels too high. Because they’ve never learned to handle defeat and setback. They go into an unholy funk. Depression. They almost become suicidal. They find it nearly impossible to settle for less than what they expect and want. Even though they have a good life, relatively speaking. Thing is, one can want to be too perfect. To have everything. They can’t settle for a half million dollars. No, they need $1 million or $2 million. It never ends. I encourage them to savor what they have. They don’t have to be fully satisfied. But hey, it’s outrageous and destructive to lament endlessly because the often unrealistic goal wasn’t meant. I know someone who has applied for a position being sought by many people. She’s already lamenting. Over the thought that she might not get it. I tell her, doesn’t matter. You’ll still have a good life. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. But even if you lose, you’re still a winner. At least in my book. –Jim Broede
