A darn lucky woman
I know someone who lives in fear and nervous frenzy. Because she’s afraid of rejection. For the most minute and trivial reasons. Because she didn’t dot an ‘i’ or cross a ‘t.’ I tell her, that’s possible. But I wouldn’t worry about it. People are sometimes judged in peculiar ways. Over little mistakes. Or even by the color of their skin. She happens to be white. And therefore, she has been in a privileged position all her life. If she had been born black in our racist society, she’d be the one that got screwed virtually every day. Not just when she failed to dot an ‘i’ or cross a ‘t.’ Come to think of it, I said, you are a darn lucky woman. –Jim Broede
