The good Italian bureaucracy.

My Italian true love claims the Italian bureaucracy is the worst in the world. But I tell her that’s not true. I’ve seen worse. That she’s unfairly maligning the Italians. No doubt, the Italian bureaucracy slows the process of attaining satisfaction.  The bureaucracy is signaling, slow down. Don’t be in a hurry. Cool it. Take time to smell the roses. While you wait and wait and wait. Read a good book. Read the newspaper.  Put on earphones and listen to music. While away the time in productive, relaxing ways. Cultivate patience. Seems to me that there are bureaucracies all over the world that are downright malicious.  They want you to hurry. Or to be far too precise. To go crazy. Bonkers. But the Italian bureaucracy wants Italians to take life at a leisurely pace. Things will get done when they get done.  –Jim Broede
