Clean everything.

Maybe I don’t know what constitutes trivial. Because my triviality may be another person’s major and significant concern. See it in action every day. People getting upset. When they don’t have to. Over relatively little. Such as a dirty floor. Really, not all that dirty. Hardly noticeable. All it takes to clean up is a broom and dustpan. Maybe a damp mop. My mother was like that. She let some things less than life and death situations throw her into an unholy tizzy. My mother wanted order. No dust. No dirty floors. Thing is, if one couldn’t eat off her floors, it was dirty. I told mother that floors were made to be walked on. But she argued, maybe not with shoes. We had to learn to walk in stocking feet. And those socks, they had to be immaculately clean. Clean socks, clean floors, clean thoughts. Clean everything. –Jim Broede
