No disturbances allowed.

I let little things bother me less and less. Little distractions. They used to distract me. Not anymore. A little noise. Just ignore it. Even in the evening. When I’m falling asleep. I become oblivious of it all. No sense in being disturbed. If the light is on, I still fall asleep. If I’m writing, as I am now, and there’s noise of a cement mixer and workmen outside, I go about my business. As if it were quiet. Instead, I’m focused. On my writing. I shut out any and all distractions. It’s a nice way to live. Shutting out the extraneous. Maybe I learned it all as a writer. In noisy, turbulent newsrooms.  The deadline nearing. I had to finish the story. No excuses. No disturbances allowed. –Jim Broede
