Practicing for the ballet.
Came to Sardinia in November with two new pairs of walking shoes. One is already worn out. On the heels. Maybe a sign that I drag my heels. The soles are still good. So I’m tempted to keep using ‘em. Though a podiatrist may tell me otherwise. Anyway, I expect the second pair to be in disrepair when I leave on the day before Easter Sunday. But that will give me an excuse to buy two new pairs. Italian-made. And see if they last longer than American-made shoes. Don’t fully trust Italian shoemakers. Because they make ridiculously high-heeled shoes for women. Spikes that look to be six inches long. It’d be easier walking on stilts. But then, Italian women are stupid to wear such shoes. But I suppose it saves wear and tear on the heels. They keep walking on their tiptoes. Funny to watch. Maybe they’re practicing for careers as ballet dancers. –Jim Broede
