Thank gawd for government.

Like to be self-reliant. Except when it comes to government. I want to rely on government. To help me meet my basic needs. And the needs of others, too. Society as a whole. The serving of the common good. This notion of having a nation in which everyone is supposed to be self-reliant. Well, that’s bull shit. Because we are all in this world together. We need to help each other. To survive. In a decent and humane manner. And maybe the best way to do that is collectively. Through government. Yes, thank gawd for government. Those who want to keep government completely out of our lives are selfish people. They care only about themselves. Not about others. –Jim Broede
