The Italian version of Halloween.

Yesterday was like Halloween. Here in Sardinia. Took me by surprise. When I went for a walk down the main street of Carbonia. Mostly youngsters. In gaudy costumes. Clowns. Ghosts. Yes, even a gorilla that romped playfully in front of me. Turns out it’s carnival time. All over Italy. The beginning of Lent. In a highly Catholic country. Guess it happens in many localities. All over the world. But not so much so in America. Where Halloween is bigger than Lent. Just the reverse here. –Jim Broede
