Little wonder. I respect Germans.

Teachers may feel more appreciated in Germany than in Italy. At least when it comes to pay. My Italian true love has taken notice. She’s been teaching English and English literature in Italian high schools for almost 30 years. And she’s paid less than beginning teachers in Germany. That’s no coincidence. Germans have a far greater respect for working class people than most other nations. For instance, when Germans faced the prospect of high unemployment because of a declining economy, they solved the problem. By shortening the work week. Thereby spreading the workload. So that more workers could find jobs.  Another thing. German workers are among the highest paid in Europe. Because Germans know that decent wages help to spur the economy. When workers have more money to spend, that stimulates spending. Puts more money into circulation. The Germans are efficient. They have know-how. And they design economic, political and social systems to serve the common good. Little wonder. I have great respect for Germans. –Jim Broede
