A romantic adventure.

Better to think of life as a romantic  adventure. Rather than full of undesirable events. Even the most painful stuff can give pleasure. Later on. When one reflects on the experience. And discovers that one survived. In loving ways. Take dear sweet Jeanne’s 13-year bout with Alzheimer’s. In a sense, there’s nothing more horrendous. For Jeanne. As the victim. For me. As the care-giver. Maybe better to not have gone through it. But we did. Together. And that’s remarkable. Because it took acts of love. Albeit, there was frustration and anguish. Mixed in. But Alzheimer’s brought us closer together. In repeated tests. Of love. Of course, one wishes for a smooth flowing love. Happiness throughout. A test-free love. But that’s not the way life works. Now I reflect. On our 38-year marriage. Our unique relationship. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The bad and the good. Because. Taken as a whole. It was a journey of pure love. A romantic adventure. –Jim Broede
