Designated holidays. Don’t like ‘em. Not even Christmas. As
a kid, I liked holidays. Mostly for selfish reasons. Got gifts. Or time off from
school. Began to wonder. Why can’t every day be a holiday? A special day. Then
there would be no need for designated holidays. Now I figure. Every day that I’m
alive. And conscious. Aware. That’s sufficient reason to celebrate. To savor
the day. The precious moments. Therefore,
designated holidays are no more special than every other day. Seems like a good idea. One I can embrace. –Jim
