In some respects, I’m probably a better human being. For
having been an Alzheimer care-giver. Initially, I thought it might be one of my
life’s worst experiences. But now I rate it as one the best. Because it was an education. From which I
learned. To truly love being my dear sweet Jeanne’s care-giver. Right up to the
end. I’d do it over again. I learned to deal with Alzheimer. In an
understanding and unruffled way. Without losing my composure. Staying upbeat.
Exuding good vibes. And not least, taking care of myself. With adequate
respite. So that I would be up to the pleasure of care-giving. It was no longer
a task. –Jim Broede
