Hot and bothered. Over nothing.

I get hot and bothered. Over trivial and inconsequential stuff. Happens almost every day. Maybe it’s because most days I have no major problems. Life is going along smoothly. Therefore, I look for ripples in the water. And imagine that I’m seeing waves. Turbulence. A sign that a storm is brewing. When, in fact, it’s not. I can’t settle for a totally peaceful and tranquil day.  I think up controversial political, social and economic issues. And it’s so frustrating.  The solutions are beyond my control. So there I am. Hot and bothered. Over nothing. --Jim Broede
